Selection and maintenance process for electric vehicles

Precautions for selecting electric vehicles:

1. Look at the brand
At present, there are many electric vehicle brands. Considering that electric vehicles are long-term consumer goods and are always related to human safety as a means of transportation, it is necessary to choose brands with good reputation in all aspects. Among them, factors such as long operating time, low repair rate, good quality, and credibility can be used as reference standards.
2. Select vehicle model
Determine the purchase model based on the actual situation of the cyclist. Electric bicycles can generally be divided into four types: mini, standard, and multifunctional. Each of the four models has its own advantages, so when choosing, everyone should consider their own needs first.
3. Check accessories
The strength and performance requirements of electric bicycle components should be higher than those of bicycles. When making a purchase, users need to consider the quality of the selected parts for the entire vehicle, such as whether there are defects in the welding of the frame and front fork, whether all components are manufactured well, whether the double supports are sturdy, whether the tires are branded, and whether the fasteners are rust proof.
4. Calculate the itinerary
A new battery with a capacity of 36V/12Ah generally has a range of about 50 kilometers. Generally, the longest distance for daily cycling is about 35 kilometers, which is more suitable (due to road conditions affecting the actual range). If the longest distance for daily cycling exceeds 50 kilometers, it is necessary to consider whether there is a possibility of charging twice in a day. If there is no such possibility, it is not suitable to choose an electric bicycle.
5. Heavy service
Due to the current lack of universal use of various electric vehicle components and the inability to achieve socialized maintenance, when choosing an electric bicycle, it is important to pay attention to whether there is a dedicated maintenance service department in the local area. If you are looking for a cheaper option and neglect after-sales service, it is easy to fall for it.

Electric vehicle maintenance:

1. Firstly, adjust the height of the saddle and handlebar to ensure they are in the safest and most comfortable position, especially the saddle height. It is best to have both feet on the ground when parking during cycling.
2. Test whether the braking device is effective and reliable, and test whether the power supply is cut off and whether the motor has stopped working after braking.
3. Check battery level: When turning on the power, check the battery level on the monitor, especially when using it after long-term use, which is particularly important. Additionally, it is necessary to check whether the driving safety components such as the electric horn and lights are effective!
4. Check the rotating parts: front and rear wheels, pedals, cranks, sprockets, chains, and flywheels for normal operation, and for any foreign objects rubbing against them.
5. Check if the tire pressure is appropriate.
6. During cycling, the first thing to do is to follow the road traffic rules. Do not cross red lights, ride on slow lanes, and do not ride on fast lanes. When the traffic is congested, turn off the power and allow manual cycling. Slow down when turning, and avoid sharp turns at small angles when driving at high speeds, which may cause excessive centrifugal force and lead to accidents.
7. Avoid bringing people along. Due to the small battery capacity and low motor power used in electric bicycles, the load capacity of electric bicycles is generally around 80kg (including riders). If accompanied by people, it will inevitably increase the motor load, accelerate battery consumption, and reduce the service life of battery motors, which also violates traffic regulations.
8. When riding uphill, on bridges, or against strong winds, both electricity and manpower should be used to reduce the load on batteries and motors. Cycling method during startup: Generally, electric bicycles have a zero start function, which means that when stationary, the switch is turned on, and the speed control is turned to start the vehicle. But at this time, the starting current is two to three times that of normal driving, which has a significant impact on the motor and battery, especially the battery. So in order to extend the range of a single charge and the lifespan of the battery, it is necessary to start with a foot pedal first. When the foot pedal reaches a certain speed for three or four laps, the circuit should be connected. This is especially important in busy traffic and areas with many traffic lights. Frequent zero starts will inevitably shorten the lifespan of the battery.
