Information Related To Power Assisted Bicycles

The principle of sensing technology is very simple
The essence of torque sensing technology is to measure the magnitude of force and then convert it into electrical signals for management and utilization. However, torque sensors have different measurement methods and structural forms.
According to Newton's third law, the force and torque at any point in a transmission system are equal and synchronized. When a force is applied to the first component on the second component, the second component will simultaneously apply an equal but opposite force to the first component. Considering the elasticity of the chain, the time difference in force transmission between the sensor and foot pedal, the sprocket crank, and the rear wheel spindle is far less than 1 millisecond (1 second=1000 milliseconds), which is imperceptible to the user.
How fast is TMM sensing technology?
The TMM sensing technology used in electric assisted folding bicycles can have a response time of up to 2 milliseconds. Many people have no idea how fast this is. For example, the Dutch BMX Olympic national team needs to provide systematic and scientific training on the strength of athletes at the moment of starting, and also needs to use power meters to assist in developing training plans. They tried SRM and GARMIN products, but were abandoned because they could not reflect the strength at the moment of starting. It was TMM sensing technology that helped them complete the training. It can be seen from this that TMM sensing technology is fast and reliable. However, as a general consumer, electric assisted folding bicycles are designed to achieve the best riding experience by limiting the response time to within 200-300 milliseconds through software. This response speed is most in line with user psychological expectations.
In addition to ultra fast response, the TMM system also monitors frequency and speed signals. We comprehensively use these signals to provide users with a more perfect riding experience and safety.

How sturdy is the TMM sensor?
The 7075 aluminum alloy material used in TMM sensors is the same as the material commonly used in the aviation industry. After special heat treatment, its inherent hardness is around 80 Rockwell hardness. However, the 6061 aluminum alloy used in bicycle frames now has a Rockwell hardness of around 60. In other words, even if the frame has been deformed or damaged, the TMM sensing unit may still be intact. In addition, TMM sensors are fixed components and there is no wear problem, It should be said that the lifespan of TM sensing units is longer than that of bicycles.
Having only one sensor is far from enough, tuning and coordination with the entire system are more important.
The accuracy and sensitivity of TMM sensors themselves can achieve millisecond level response, and more importantly, the collaborative cooperation between torque sensing technology and several major systems such as control centers, high-speed motors, on-board computers, and battery systems.
